Changes to Team Selection Policy
Sharon Springs has changed its Travel Baseball program to be more accommodating to families.  We are no longer requiring a Blue/Silver designation and coaches are permitted to put together the team choosing among any of the tryout candidates. But, some age groups will continue to maintain this designation based on the collaboration of the Coaches in an age group. But it is no longer a requirement as in years past. Also, players will no longer be required to play for a specific team(i.e. Have to play for a Specific team or not play at all). Therefore, is will be important for you to get to know the coaches for each team in your child’s age group prior to committing to any given coach. The coaches are expected to have short synopsis of their plans for the season, and they will have a brief introductory meeting with parents prior to the start of the tryout. If a player is offered an opportunity to play for more than one team, it will be your decision to determine which team your child plays for next season.
Once tryouts begin coaches will be permitted to speak with you and you will have the opportunity to speak with any of the coaches.

New "Out of County Player" Policy for Travel Baseball
Beginning with 2010, we at Sharon Springs will be implementing the following out of county player policy:
Major Level Teams - 2 players allowed from out of county.
AAA Level Teams - 1 player allowed from out of county.
AA - 0 players allowed from out of county.

SSAA  will review requests to make exceptions to this policy. The Travel  Commissioner will rule on these requests as needed. A reminder to everyone that we are a Community Travel Program for the residents of Forsyth County. But we do recognize that there will be rare exceptions to this policy.

Number of teams per age group - 9u thru 12u
The number of travel teams for each age group between 9u thru 12u will be 3 or more depending on the number of kids that attend the tryouts, the quality of talent,  and the commitment of families to play on a Travel Baseball team. Obviously, one can not have 3 teams in an age group if no more than 40 kids appear for tryouts.

Number of teams per age group - 13u thru 14u
We will have two teams each in the 13u and 14u age groups in 2010. This too will depend upon the number of kids attending the tryouts.

Information in regards to 2010 Travel Baseball
Tryouts for all age groups will be the first two weekends of August. The exact field and time designation for each age group will be determined by the coaches responsible for coordinating the Evals for each age group.  We have had an extraordinary number of great men apply for a minimum number of coaching positions within the program.
